49-Year-Old Honolulu Waterman Remembered for his Passion and Spirit

Tamayo Perry, a celebrated figure in Honolulu's surfing and water safety community, has passed away at the age of 49 after succumbing to injuries sustained in a shark attack.

Perry, a veteran lifeguard for Honolulu Ocean Safety, was known for his exceptional surfing skills and his dedication to protecting the beaches of Oahu. He was also a respected actor, having appeared in films such as Pirates of the Caribbean, Blue Crush, and Hawaii Five-0.

On Friday, Perry was surfing on the East Side of Oahu when he was attacked by a shark. Witnesses reported seeing a large shark circling in the water near Perry's surfboard before the attack occurred.

Emergency responders quickly arrived on the scene and transported Perry to a nearby hospital, where he underwent surgery. However, despite the efforts of medical professionals, Perry succumbed to his injuries.

Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi expressed his deep sorrow over Perry's passing. "Tamayo Perry was an extraordinary individual who dedicated his life to serving others," said Blangiardi. "He was a highly skilled lifeguard who saved countless lives, and a talented actor who brought joy to countless people through his performances."
